During my trip to Luxor — the site of the ancient Thebes — I realized there were so many attractions that I couldn’t explore even a fraction of its wonders. And so, I’ve handpicked my top things to do (and famous favorites), so you know exactly what to prioritize if confused:
- Visit the sprawling complex of Karnak (built 2000 years ago!) and marvel at the intricate decorations of Luxor Temple on the East Bank

Insider Tips Before Visiting Luxor
First and foremost, remember that the best time for visiting Luxor is between October and April, when the weather is pleasant.
Also, tourists are crazy about the historical attractions, so they can get very busy during the day. If you’re someone who hates the crowds, be sure to visit early in the morning for a secluded experience. Plus, almost all attractions have an entrance fee (usually between $2 and $10), so you should have some money on hand before exploring.
